{Post 1,372} Minis Don't Make Me Blue

The border of this little quilt might be blue, but I'm not.  I love MINIS!!  There.  I said it.  This is the last one for a while.  I was so disappointed that my hanging clips still have not arrived.  It's been nearly a week since I ordered them.  In this day and age of instant everything, it can be so hard to wait for things.  This measures 16" square.  I might trim the outer border down a bit.

This was copied from a pattern I saw for sale.  Honestly, I can't remember where I saw it.  I think it was a combo pattern with other designs.  Not even sure it's a mini, but that's what I made it.  The squares finish at 1".

{Post 1,371} Single Socks

Was folding up a basket of laundry today and ended up with two single socks.  Nothing new there.  Or is there????

{Post 1,370} Timmy is Here!

Wes and I were awakened last night (actually this AM) at 12:30 to let us know Timmy would probably be born today.  Elisabeth had a check-up at the midwife's.  Shortly thereafter she started in very mild labor.  She went to a hospital instead of the birthing center where she wanted to deliver.  But she has a healthy baby, so not such a loss, right?

He was born at 3:38 AM.  8 pounds 2 ounces and nearly 21" long.  Lots and lots of blonde/light brown hair.

{Post 1,369} Half Finished Already!

In anticipation of my clips arriving, I started a fast mini.  I solely blame Janet for this one because I saw it on her blog.  Since I already had all the pieces cut out and languishing in my scrap parts drawer, it is going fast.

This measures 8-1/2" x 16-1/2" now.  The other half is laid out and I have one row sewn.

{Post 1,368} Minis are Like Potato Chips

Minis are like potato chips...I can't stop!!  Here is the first block of my next one.  I am going to dig in the shirt stash and knock this one out.  It will be pieced from all shirts.  That yellow matches my room pretty closely.  I'm trying to make each mini a color scheme or seasonal theme or whatever.  So easy to do on a small quilt.  These will be set on point and be 4" finished.  I must be getting used to working with the small pieces because this went together in a flash.

With the yardstick hangers in place, changing them out won't be an issue like it is with other means of displaying.  I hope my clips arrive tomorrow!

Looking forward to spending a couple days with a blogging friend of mine, Sam of Sam Quilts blog.  We have met two other times in person (is that ALL, Sam?).  We get along beautifully and know each other fairly well.  I am already having to tell myself to "calm down already!!" because I'm so excited about seeing her in person.  Like-minded friends will do that to a person ;)

Still no baby.  She has a doctor's appointment in the AM, so we will know more then.

{Post 1,367} Mini Needs Bordered

Here is my latest mini...a pinwheel design.  I love the way it came together.  Finished piecing the blocks this AM.

My dear husband helped me hang the first 2 (of 4) yardsticks.  Yes, the clothesline is already going the way of the fondue pot.  The day I hung it my friend, Janet, posted about her yardstick hangers.  Brilliant.  I am a convert.  Pictures of the yardsticks to come.  I stained them with a light wood stain.

The above quilt is about 10" x 14" right now.  I am going to add a small border and binding, of course.

Update.  Here's the above quilt with borders and pinned for quilting.

{Post 1,366} Another Mini Started

This is a 3-1/2" finished block.  I wanted to try the pattern, so I cut and pieced this while my husband got ready for Planet Fitness this AM.  If I have more time later today, I'm going to try to piece the rest for a mini quilt of these little pinwheels.  This one went so fast and was relatively easy, despite the small pieces.

We are still awaiting the appearance of our grandson who is 11 days past due.  Maybe he'll be a 4th of July baby!

We are having a huge meal for lupper (combination of lunch and supper).  BBQ ribs, dirty rice, corn on the cob, broiled bread, peach cobbler and ice cream, white chocolate-covered cake cubes with sprinkles...the works!!  Better get back to it.

Went to Charlotte last night for a concert by the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra with an amazing fireworks show afterwards.  There was a deluge before that delayed it (even flash flood warnings), but we stayed and stayed until they could play.  Went out for a very late supper with our son afterwards (finished near midnight!).  Looking forward to relaxing later today.  I hope to get in a few more fireworks locally tonight if there is no labor for Elisabeth yet.
