{Post 1,398} Journal Cover

I can't remember how it came up, but my son's girlfriend asked me to make her a journal cover out of denim and to add a little flat lace.  This looks very plain to me, but this is what I ended up with.  Goodbye jumper!

{Post 1,397} A Finish and A Start

Finished the center of the Charming Addition I Spy this AM.  I will be adding a border or two, but the center is finished.  It is 36" square.

Next up is a leader/ender project I started from strips of the above quilt that were left over.  This is how it starts, isn't it?  I saw the quilt below at a guild meeting I attended with a friend recently and loved it.  The one I saw was not in novelty prints.  I love the shadowing and brightness and darkness and everything in between.  As with all quilt beginnings, there is not a lot of variety in the fabrics...yet.  Wait until I get going!!

{Post 1,396} Replaced and Enlarged

I did take out the spool fabric block.  I replaced it with the red pizza fabric, then moved the spools over and down.  I added two more rows while I was at it.  My plans have drastically changed today, so I had a little more time for sewing, which is always a good thing.

{Post 1,395} Double Good

Here is the Charming Addition I Spy quilt now.  I added 4 more rows this AM.  I stopped after that, because I have much to do that is NOT sewing (go figure!).  I like it, but am thinking about removing the spool fabric and moving it somewhere else.  It blends in too much.  Since it's one of my favorite fabrics, I would like it to show up on its own.

Hours later:  FWIW, I did go back and replace that block with the spools on it (right diagonally from the black one near the bottom left).  I am replacing it with a fabric with a red background.

{Post 1,394] Next Project

I have been wanting to use my I Spy stash for a project.  I also had an itch to sew for a little bit.

Yesterday Kathie Holland posted about a project of hers from a couple years ago.  I am using I Spy stash for it, but making one change.  I am not using 5 squares like in the original pattern.  I am using a rectangle for the middle 3 squares to save a couple seams per block.  I like it so far.  I am cutting at least one block's worth from each fabric in my stash.  It will be 36" square when finished, a good baby quilt size.

Wouldn't this be fantastic in plaids as well?

{Post 1,393} New Bed Frame in Place!

Today an exciting event took place.  I finally moved out my grandparents' headboard from my bedroom (we've only been using it 25-11/12 years) and put the one I recently purchased in there.  My husband had to make another support.  One of the ones that came with it was broken in two places.  I am thankful he can do about anything!

Here is Isaac removing the headboard from the Hollywood frame.  You would not believe the dust I vacuumed up from under there.  I'll spare you the picture.

All ready for the new arrival...freshly vacuumed.  Something tells me that those pictures are going to have to be moved.

Voila...the finished bed.  I love the way it looks.  Like a real piece of furniture.

Now I need to get some new decorations for above the headboard.  This one is much taller than our previous one.

{Post 1,392} 60th Anniversary

Above is a picture from a 60th anniversary fellowship I helped coordinate last night at church.  It was a great opportunity to try out the cupcake tree.  The wedding I'm doing on August 16 is using purple and silver for the colors.  So the "tree" will be a little more colorful and have an extra layer as well.  I think it turned out quite nicely.
