{Post 1,521} Break Week

One of the reasons I came home when I did from my daughter's in GA was that I was making 150 cupcakes for our church's ladies' banquet.  Here they are baked before the frosting and decorations were applied.

Here is a picture from said banquet of my local girls and me.  My grandson, Timmy, is on his mommy's lap.  The colors for the banquet were turquoise and red.  Very pretty.

My daughter's house has some very quirky things, but it is her!  Several people have sent me this quilt with a note saying "you've got to make this!".  It doesn't appeal to me, but Susie loved it.  The second picture is a close up of the poor hanging block.  She later added larger eyes, which look much better.

{Post 1,497} Two New Projects to Share, and a Kid

Here are two projects I am beginning.  I have two Christmas quilts to machine quilt, then I'm home free for my own projects.

This first one is Bonnie Hunter's leader/ender for this year.  These are tumbler/thimble pieces.  Mine will finish 2" tall.  I spent a couple hours one day trimming down scraps for this.  There is not a lot of variety right now because I only trimmed down blues, browns, reds, and blacks.  I plan to remedy that soon...after I machine quilt the above two mentioned items.

This is a larger item.  I hope to make it into a queen-size quilt...my summer quilt for our guest room downstairs.  The blocks are disappearing 9-patch.  By using the blue fabric for the center square, it will repeat in that position in each block.  The blocks finish at 13" square.

During one of my insomniatic nights, I came across the top for this runner.  It has been languishing marinating since 2011.  It is fairly large.  16" x 46"...for my Christmas table.

I stayed overnight at my daughter's Sunday.  Got to spend some quality time with this little nipper on Monday.  He has my chin (s) !!

{Post 1,459} Customer Quilt and Mine

Here is a customer quilt (a jelly roll race) I machine quilted yesterday.  I did a large meander in purple thread.

Here's my Grandmother's Flower Garden that I'm taking to hand stitch before church.  My kids have to be there 2 hours early, so I'll be sewing.  I am attaching the light blue flower that is on the 3rd row right to the mother ship.  The bottom row is not all sewn together, and I hope to get to start adding that to the mother ship as well.  Wish me luck!!

{Post 1,389} The Day in Pictures

Well, this is PART of the day in pictures.  I have done a few more little projects.  On some of them I have procrastinated a long time, only to find out they only took a few minutes!  That's how it is with me.  You're chuckling because you NEVER do that, right?  

I touched up paint from our remodeling in January and in our guest room.  Kimi came around 7 PM.  We are fast friends already.  It seems like I've known her for years and years.

Here is my scrap wallet for my Grandmother's Flower Garden blocks.  I keep this in my wallet so I can see what fabrics I have and which one I need more of.  I don't think I need any more at all.  This is very full.  The box of fabrics will probable make more than one quilt.  I guess if I use up the fabrics making another quilt I can call it the great-Grandmother's blocks or something!

Here is Elisabeth with Timmy dressed in overalls.  And I thought little boys couldn't possibly be as cute as little girls.

I spray-painted my new stools this afternoon.  They need to cure for a little while, but they turned out soooo lovely.  I think I've admired them out loud about 100 times already.  They add so much charm to our kitchen.  I used up paint from 3 different cans.  They were relatively close to each other in color!!  All shades of tan.  I used the two with the least amount to put on the first coat, then used the most full can to do the last coat.  These were a steal for $8 each.

{Post 1,373} Mini-Reunion

Had a good visit today when my two sons who live together came up to see me.  Well, they came to see Timmy, but I am pretending they came to see me.  Luke (on the left) is 21.  Ben is 18.  Doesn't Elisabeth look good?

Didn't realize I hadn't posted this picture on my blog.  I use Facebook a lot, and it was on there.

These are two of my other girls.  Rachel (16) is on the left, and Susie (19) is in the middle.  This was the day Timmy was born (7.8.14).

{Post 1,371} Single Socks

Was folding up a basket of laundry today and ended up with two single socks.  Nothing new there.  Or is there????

{Post 1,370} Timmy is Here!

Wes and I were awakened last night (actually this AM) at 12:30 to let us know Timmy would probably be born today.  Elisabeth had a check-up at the midwife's.  Shortly thereafter she started in very mild labor.  She went to a hospital instead of the birthing center where she wanted to deliver.  But she has a healthy baby, so not such a loss, right?

He was born at 3:38 AM.  8 pounds 2 ounces and nearly 21" long.  Lots and lots of blonde/light brown hair.
