{Post 1,651} Flat As a Flitter

I don’t even know what a flitter is, but I do know this quilt top is F-L-A-T!!  I just finished adding the ninth of ten rows of blocks. I am going to spend a while cutting and sewing some more HSTs to take a break from piecing. I love everything about this quilt. I can never see myself making a quilt from just a few fabrics. This one has over 140 already, and I’m not finished yet.

{Post 1,650} Seven Blocks To Go!!

I forgot to take a picture of the 3 new blocks I pieced tonight before adding sashing. After adding the 8th and 9th rows, I will only have 7 more blocks to piece. Then I’ll take inventory of how many more HSTs I need. I have been keeping track on a little card in the box I store them in, but I’ll double check to have an accurate count. This seems close to the end so quickly.

I caved and bought 4 more shirts at Goodwill today. I am going to start a HST quilt with shirts for half and muslin for the other half for my living room when I get the Moth quilt finished. Still trying to pull in colors from the new rug I love.

The new blocks are in the bottom row. Third, fifth, and seventh from the left. I love them every one.

The 8th row is pieced with sashings, but not yet sewn to the mother ship.

{Post 1,649} Second Border Row Perfect and ON!!

This is such a fun moment. I realized I had enough HSTs to add another border row. It fit just perfectly. So many things could have gone wrong, but they didn’t!! So many little pieces. I wanted to post this accomplishment.

Such a busy week. I am leaving for a much-needed break Friday afternoon through Saturday night for a ladies’ retreat with my church.

There is nothing like a friend to lift one’s spirit, right?

Here is the new row. I realize this isn’t exciting to anyone but me, but I mainly use my blog to record progress on projects.

I just did the math, and I only need less than two more rows of blocks to complete the center!!  Glory!!  The end is in sight.

{Post 1,648} Little by Little, Inch by Inch

I had some extra free time today, so I spent some of it cutting and piecing a few more blocks. Two Moth blocks and a bunch of HST for border. So exciting!!! I still have so far to go, but I am enjoying the progress.

{Post 1,647} Milestone!

Even if it is out of the order of construction, I reached a milestone on my Moth in the Window quilt today. As I have leftover 2-1/2” strips, I’ve been cutting HST for the outer border (3 rows deep, all around!). I just finished adding the inner border and one row of HST on the top edge. I am thrilled to announce that it fits perfectly, and there was no easing in!!
