{Post 1,431} Carolina Chain Piecing Finished

I finished sewing the rows to each other on this quilt top.  I like it a lot, and I have already picked out a family to gift it to.

It measures 41-1/2" x 55"

{Post 1,419} Top Three Rows Sewn Together

Worked on my Carolina Chain just a few minutes tonight.  I added the last 2 blocks in every row to web the top, then sewed the top 3 horizontal rows together.  It's a cutie!

{Post 1,418} Borrowed Time

I feel like I'm living on borrowed time now that I'm watching a baby again.  Every minute he is asleep is like gold.  I did not go to the sew-in at the library this morning because it ended up that I was watching Timmy.  Didn't have the energy to pack up my machine, iron, board, supplies, etc., as well as Timmy and all his supplies.  Oh, well.  Duty calls.

I had my Carolina Chain blocks all cut out, so I am squeezing in a few of those when I can.  I am nearly at the end of the stack.  See how it grows.

First 18:

Then there were 30:

Then 45:

Now up to 93:

This will be 40-1/2" wide.  I don't know how long yet, but I'll make it a nicely-shaped rectangle.  I am going to sew until I run out of pre-cut blocks, then I'll add enough to finish that row.

{Post 1,408} New Plan for Chain

I have a new plan for my Carolina Chain I Spy quilt.  I'm going to make it 40" x 60" for an undetermined-as-yet toddler.  I have these 45 blocks so far.  Looks like I'll need quite a few more.  Fifty-nine more, to be exact.

When I stopped in a new-to-me fabric shop recently, I was given a flyer for a "sew-in" at a local library for September 13 from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.  I can hardly wait.  I am going to sew the rest of these blocks plus use HST as my leader/enders for this quilt.  I have lots of cutting to do to prepare.

{Post 1,403} Another Leader/Ender I Spy New Project

When will it end?  I always want to try new blocks, use up a little more fabric, etc.  So the end is not really in sight.  I saw Bonnie Hunter working on some Carolina Chain blocks a few days ago, and I just had to try a few.  Not sure I love, Love, LOVE the pattern, but it does use up some more I Spy fabrics.

Here's what I've got so far:

The blocks measure 5" square (4-1/2" square finished).  This will make a cute I Spy for a baby.  I am going to start some machine quilting soon.  First a surprise project, then some baby-sized I Spys.

Wish me luck!

{Post 1,404} End of Carolina Chain?

These are the Carolina Chain blocks I have finished so far.  I am not lovin' this like I thought I would, so I think it's time to stop.  I have used up bits and pieces of different I Spy scraps.  It is now time to do some machine quilting and binding to finish up some of these projects.

Just found out that another woman at church is pregnant last night, so that's 3 baby quilts to make through March.  So happy for these new lives.

These blocks finish at 4-1/2" square, so this top will be 27" square w/o any borders.  I might make more blocks...I might add borders.  But this isn't speaking to me, so it's over for now ;)
