{Post 1,633} Update on Two Quilt Tops

I pieced some more string blocks, some more baby quilt rows (not pictured), and connected my new blocks to the side of what I had pieced for my Moth in the Window top. Here is my progress:

{Post 1,632} Five More Moths...A Favorite Block

Here are five more Moth in the Window blocks I pieced today. The top left green and tan one is my favorite. Just look at the close-up of the green fabric...so perfect for spring. Grass green, with blue sky and yellow sunshine.

{Post 1,631} Slight Changes Make Me Happy

I have made dozens of quilts. People often ask if there is anything about a finished quilt I would have changed. The answer is sometimes yes. But if I am in the beginning stages of a quilt (as in, it’s not quilted yet), I make the changes if they bother me every time I look at the top. I put contrasting black circles on the two fabrics in the “dark” rows that I replaced because they are too light. It’s those medium-valued fabrics that are always the trouble makers. I also highlighted a light with a bright green dot that I might remove and replace in the second picture. There are too many of that odd fabric close together. The changing out doesn’t really take all that long. With these odd-shaped pieces, I simple remove the offender, then use it as a pattern to make a replacement piece.

Here is the before above the after, with the after having one more dark row on it (with a couple black pieces added in on purpose because there were not very many black pieces, and that’s what I used to replace the large light blue one.

{Post 1,630} String Baby Quilt Halfway

Here is my shirt string baby quilt. It is halfway finished! Someone commented that this must be taking a long time. I am sorry I still cannot respond to comments directly. This is actually one of the fastest ways to piece. No measuring other than eyeballing that it will cover the paper foundation. Just make sure you don’t use two of the same fabrics close together. Even if you do...no biggie!

I added a couple more rows this AM. A friend is coming over so I can talk her through making a T-shirt quilt for one of her sons. I plan on sewing on this some more tonight.

This section is 40” x 20”...

Now that I am looking at the picture, I see a fabric that I should NOT have used in the dark panels. It is the light blue with white stripes. I will remove those pieces and add in a darker one/ones. Yes, I am going to take the time to do that! Looks like one piece in each row.
