{Post 1,601} Moth in the Window

Some quilt patterns just grab me. Some I fight off for years before making (I like to let them marinate). When I saw this on Bonnie Hunter’s blog, I loved it immediately. I started using the HSTs for the border a couple months ago. Keep in mind that I haven’t sewn a lot in the past couple months. But I did make 240/480 HSTs. Last night I sewed them into groups of threes while listening to a podcast on decluttering. That is my new favorite hobby...decluttering. Otherwise known as being able to see the floor.

Here are the first 240 HSTs in their natural habitat.

It doesn’t look like much, but those are half of enough to get around an 88”-square quilt three deep. I will keep plugging away at the other 240. What I do it keep cutting up shirt scraps as they are available. I cut them facing a solid black so that I don’t have to fiddle with lining them up every time I pick up a pair.

Here is the quilt from the Kindle book:

Isn’t it glorious? I think so. I thought it would be fun to write a new blog post every time I work on blocks so you can see them coming together. I made two of them way back and pinned them to my bulletin board in my sewing room.

And here’s the three I pieced today.

The black makes it very dynamic doesn't it!

Are you going to use different blacks to add depth. Happy sewing.
