{Post 1,462} A Few More Units On the Wall

75 minutes leter...if I have counted correctly, I have all the 9-patches finished, 3 more blocks to piece (all HSTs already pieced), and 6 more sashing strips to sew.

{Post 1,461} A Little HST Star Progress

A few days ago I took this picture:

Then I had 32 people here for supper (a backwards meal...dessert, entree, appetizers, and drinks) on Tuesday.  While I recovered from all the cooking and cleaning, I pieced a few more sashings and 9-patches.  Here is where it is right this minute:

Since it is very close to being ready for borders, I don't want to take it down to pack up again.  This quilt top started when I found many HSTs of the same size in my stash(es).  As I wondered how to use them up, a "star" was born.

My design walls are 48" wide each, so this gives you an idea of how large it is so far.

I think I'll use the same cream fabric (or maybe surprise myself and pick a different color) for the setting triangles on the sides and corners.  Now that I've introduced that idea, I think a dark fabric would be splendid!!

I don't have to piece any more HSTs, so the rest of this is a snap.

{Post 1,460} Sorry About This Method

I need to contact Christine that likes my Red Zinger quilt top.  You emailed me before Christmas, and I can't find your email address.

For the rest of you, here's a bad photo of a wall decor item (7' x 4') that I made for a baby shower last night at our church...

{Post 1,459} Customer Quilt and Mine

Here is a customer quilt (a jelly roll race) I machine quilted yesterday.  I did a large meander in purple thread.

Here's the back:

Here's the grandson I babysat yesterday and today (right about 6 months old):

Here's my Grandmother's Flower Garden that I'm taking to hand stitch before church.  My kids have to be there 2 hours early, so I'll be sewing.  I am attaching the light blue flower that is on the 3rd row right to the mother ship.  The bottom row is not all sewn together, and I hope to get to start adding that to the mother ship as well.  Wish me luck!!

{Post 1,458} Squares Surrounded Top Finished

Here is my finished queen-sized top.  Hope to quilt it and use it soon.  Windy, cold day.  Best picture I could get.

{Post 1,457} One Border Section Added

Turns out I pieced about 4" too much for one border today.  So I went ahead and sewd it onto the mother ship.  Now I have two long sides' worth of border to piece and attach.  I really like this!  I need to make a note to use more light fabrics in the side ones because they'll be seen a lot more.  Our new bed has a footboard which hides the end of the quilt.

{Post 1,456} Sewing Today

Today I sewed from about 9:30 to 2:00.  I am adding another border of the string-pieced units on the 3 sides that already have one.  That way I can make the bed with a pillow tuck and it will be just the way I want.

I got about 12 eleven-inch-long sections finished.  They are untrimmed above  I did a lot of chatting and helping others with cutting, answering questions, etc.  Used up tons of little scraps.  About half of the strips were pieced from two, and that takes a little longer as well.

Here is the quilt top I am making for our "new" room:
