{Post 1,405} Baby Shower Fun

My cupcake toppers...the nursery has a whale theme, so I extended that to the shower as well.  Colors for nursery are blue and orange.  I added green for the shower.

Here is my mantle decorated for the shower.  The chalkboard has a huge whale and says "Whalecome one and all".  Baby will be named Adrian Marc.  My daughter had the great idea of printing out a couple pics the couple had just had taken and put them in my window frame.

The mom-to-be's mother and I collaborated on preparing snacks.  We had lots of goodies.  The punch is a recipe I got from the 60th anniversary celebration I just coordinated a few weeks ago.  I added pineapple sherbet.  Could have drunk the whole bowl myself.  Only tremendous self-control prevented me.  

She received loads of great gifts.  Here are a few of them.

The mom-to-be and me.  The outside chalkboard sported two whales and said, "Whaley, whaley glad U came".  I had a diaper wreath on the front door.

It was the most fun shower I have ever been at.  We all had a whale of a good time.  It was also my birthday, but that little fact was kind of downplayed.

{Post 1,403} Another Leader/Ender I Spy New Project

When will it end?  I always want to try new blocks, use up a little more fabric, etc.  So the end is not really in sight.  I saw Bonnie Hunter working on some Carolina Chain blocks a few days ago, and I just had to try a few.  Not sure I love, Love, LOVE the pattern, but it does use up some more I Spy fabrics.

Here's what I've got so far:

The blocks measure 5" square (4-1/2" square finished).  This will make a cute I Spy for a baby.  I am going to start some machine quilting soon.  First a surprise project, then some baby-sized I Spys.

{Post 1,404} End of Carolina Chain?

These are the Carolina Chain blocks I have finished so far.  I am not lovin' this like I thought I would, so I think it's time to stop.  I have used up bits and pieces of different I Spy scraps.  It is now time to do some machine quilting and binding to finish up some of these projects.

Just found out that another woman at church is pregnant last night, so that's 3 baby quilts to make through March.  So happy for these new lives.

These blocks finish at 4-1/2" square, so this top will be 27" square w/o any borders.  I might make more blocks...I might add borders.  But this isn't speaking to me, so it's over for now ;)

Give up?  There is a dress-up contest tonight in my daughter's youth group.  That is not Johnny Depp.  That's my Rachel.  Gotcha.

{Post 1,400} Center of Leader/Ender Finished

Well, at least the blocks are all pieced.  I might add a border or so on this one.  Time will tell.  It will measure 36" square as is.

{Post 1,399} 24/36ths Finished!

Here is my I Spy leader/ender.  It will be 36" square when the center is finished.  I'm still stuck in the mindset that all quilts need borders.  We shall see with this one.  This has been fun to cut and piece. I need 12 more blocks to finish the center.
