Quilt Show Pic #2

Here is the first quilt I'll share from the Hickory, NC quilt show. This was displayed out in the hallway before you actually entered the show. This was such a fun and exuberant scrappy quilt. It had little surprised tucked in that we didn't notice at first. Susanna took all the pictures at the show. I'll be sharing one every once in a while.

Here's a big-mouthed monster...

Don't miss Mr. Turtle...

Here we found Peppy-le-pew!!

My own scrap quilts aren't nearly as interesting, but this is why I love scrappy quilts...the variation in the fabrics make you want to look all over the quilt to see if you missed anything. The skill needed to make this one was way above my level!

Found the Quilt Pattern...

...it was in my basement!! It turns out that the pattern I was asking about was in a magazine I have in my basement/sewing room. Yippee. I love it when a plan comes together. Here is the pic from the magazine...

Definitely on the will-be-making-some-century list.  It is called Primitive Stars.

Thoughtful Gift

My daughter, Emily, gifted me with these lovely roses a couple days ago. The picture does not do them justice. The little blossoms are about as big as quarters. So sweet...just like Emily!
She is leaving today for a 3-week job assignment 3 hours away (boo, hoo), so we are going out for lunch together as a farewell meal (sniff, sniff).

A Little Over the Top

OK, so my last post was an exaggeration. I really don't have to make that quilt. I was just emphasizing how much I like it.

Quilting is such a small part of my life, but an enjoyable one at that. I was just being silly when I made it sound like my life would be incomplete without that quilt.

My sister sent me a pic and source for the pattern. Bless her heart. The pattern pic looks nearly identical to the quilt I saw at the show, in fact. It's from the 2006 Quilt Sampler magazine by BH & G. I'll see if I have it already. Not going to waste much time looking for it if I don't.

Must Make--Know the Pattern Name??

Here is a quilt I saw last week in Hickory. I. must. have. one. If you know the name of the pattern, I'd be most grateful to learn it.

The show was nice, but the quilts were not displayed well. They were hung on skirt hangers, and they were not flat, which did not make it easy to take a picture.

Please share the pattern name if you know it.

This is pic #1 from the show.

A Halo to Go with My Crown

Here is a pic from this AM. I was machine quilting away on the belated welcome-Madelynn batik quilt when I remembered my lone puchase from the quilt show last weekend...a quilt halo. The one I test-drove at the show was on a machine that had a Teflon sheet adhered to the table under it...made it fly. I'm going to see if I can get one for my machine.

Here is a close-up...as with anything new, there is a learning curve. But I think it went swimmingly for the first time.

Very busy day...having 10-12 college students here for supper (baking a pumpkin sheet cake and Chocolate Bavarian Torte for that as well as multitudinous other details). Need to get back to the kitchen!

Amazing. Unique. Surprise. Gift. Soon.

I will humbly state that I made the most perfect one-of-a-kind gift tonight for my newlywed friend, Sara. I will tell you the whole story and get a picture of her receiving this unique gift after I give it to her (which will hopefully be on Sunday). You will want to stay tuned!! Story to follow. I will give you a hint...it has something to do with asparagus!! REALLY.
