{Post 1,466} Center of HST Quilt is Finished

This measures about 62" x 80"...I will trim it down and add at least a thin and wide border later.  Going in the drawer to marinate for now.  More sewing room organizing to do as well as 2 customer quilts to machine quilt.

{Post 1,465} A Little With Side Triangles

Here is the little I put all together.  The bottom 2 right rows are all sewn together.  I am liking my brown fabric choice.

I probably won't have much more time to sew for the next few days, but I'm happy with this so far.

A friend brought over 2 quilt tops for me to machine quilt today, and I'm just trying to get this top off the design wall so I can work on her quilts.  Pressing on.  And I mean pressing!!

{Post 1,463} One More Block to Sew

Here's the little I got finished today.  Maybe I'll work on it more tonight?

{Post 1,462} A Few More Units On the Wall

75 minutes leter...if I have counted correctly, I have all the 9-patches finished, 3 more blocks to piece (all HSTs already pieced), and 6 more sashing strips to sew.

{Post 1,461} A Little HST Star Progress

A few days ago I took this picture:

Then I had 32 people here for supper (a backwards meal...dessert, entree, appetizers, and drinks) on Tuesday.  While I recovered from all the cooking and cleaning, I pieced a few more sashings and 9-patches.  Here is where it is right this minute:

Since it is very close to being ready for borders, I don't want to take it down to pack up again.  This quilt top started when I found many HSTs of the same size in my stash(es).  As I wondered how to use them up, a "star" was born.

My design walls are 48" wide each, so this gives you an idea of how large it is so far.

I think I'll use the same cream fabric (or maybe surprise myself and pick a different color) for the setting triangles on the sides and corners.  Now that I've introduced that idea, I think a dark fabric would be splendid!!

I don't have to piece any more HSTs, so the rest of this is a snap.

{Post 1,321} New Setting for HST Quilt

This setting is perfect for my HST quilt.  I have enough triangle units for 8 more blocks.  A row of 3, a row of 2, then another row of 3.

The above piece measures about 60" wide by 53" long.  There are very few seams, so it won't shrink by much when the units are sewn together.

I am not working on this any more tonight because MY NEWPHEW WAS BORN A LITTLE AFTER NOON AND I'M LEAVING TO SEE HIM IN THE MORNING!!  Just a teensy bit excited.

{Post 1,320} HST Star Still Needs a Real Name

Earlier I was cleaning out a drawer or two from under my cutting table.  I have some drawers of "what was I thinking when I cut these extra units?"  I harvested enough HSTs or triangles to piece these...

Yes--the lighting in this room is not for sewing!  The oil-rubbed bronze semi-circle in the top right of the picture is a SMALL table lamp.  See how its light only goes so far?

I will add the above star blocks to THIS:

How is it possible that every new project is my new favorite?  I think I'm going to call this one "Scrap and Save" because of using up all the scrap HSTs.  Doesn't that sound like a discount grocery store?  I see a boo boo in one of the blocks above.  Do you see it?  Will fix in the AM.  Too tired tonight.

Good night all!

{Post 1,308} ...And She is Sewing!

I found a very large number of HSTs when packing up the ole sewing room.   Actually, they were found before that.  Nevertheless, I squirreled these away for these days when I would have limited access to stash.  I made this block up.  What is a good name for it?

Setting will be on-point with the 9-patches made from 1-1/2" squares for cornerstones.
