Above is a picture of my Supreme Slider being used for the first time. It is a self-sticking pad you put over the base of your sewing machine. It has a coat of Teflon on the top, making the quilt sandwich slide around effortlessly, or so they want you to think. I didn't notice a great improvement in my sliding. That surprised me because my sewing machine is set down into my cabinet, and the cabinet has a slightly rough top. This is not a product I would recommend getting. I did not notice a significant improvement. Just my opinion.

I purchased a similar product, Sew-Slip, and agree with you totally. I don't use it anymore. I didn't really notice much, if any, improvement. I paid $30 for it too!
ReplyDeleteI keep holding off getting one. Now, I'm glad I didn't.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I did do that you may want to try is I went to Wal-mart and purchased some clear plastic from the fabric department. It is pretty thick. I just cut a small hole in it (like the Supreme Slider has) and it covers my whole tabletop. It is sold by the yard like fabric. A very inexpensive alternative you may want to try.
Thank you Joan, I have been interested in what you would think, sometimes these things are just 'gadgets' and we really don't need them...although they might be just the thing for some!
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice that much difference either with just the supreme slider. But I really did when I added Machingers quilter's gloves. The rubbery fingertips really make handling the quilt easier. Then you also feel the difference with the slider. But I really think you need to use both together.
ReplyDeleteLooking into whether the supreme slider is worth purchasing, seems it is not, esp. for the price point.
ReplyDeleteI do use the Machingers gloves and I would recommend those.
