Sample of Sashing

This is a sample of how my Scrappy Stars quilt will look with sashing.  I have to end my sewing time for today.  The top left block has the cream strips sewn to the center block.  The other pieces are just plunked down on my design wall.  Have to see if I like this before I do any more sewing on it this way.  This is NOT the original plan for these blocks.  How do YOU like it?

The plan is to sew the rows of 3 x 4 blocks together this way, then put one more row of cream on the outside with one last 2" square between each sash, then border it with a solid piece of...something...not sure what just yet!

My goodness! You have been a prolific quilter with those two inch squares. I know beauty can come out of tiny bits of fabric, just needed some inspiration to know what to do with them all. Lovely, lovely!
And, in answer to your question- yes, I like your block setting :)

I went back to look at the post on the 18th with these blocks. Although I really love this new look, I think I like how it's laid out on that post better (adding light sashing and a dark cornerstone). I think it visually appeals to me more as a quilter because it makes a strong secondary design. You have to stop and look at it for a moment, like a puzzle, to figure out where the block actually is. Reminds me a little of the same sort of concept as your "Buggy Wheels", one of my favorite quilts!

I have two humongous containers of TB scraps I have to start using myself. I love what you've done and am greatly inspired to get started! Bonnie has a great scrap system but I don't really want to use up a lot of space storing them. I think I'll only cut out 1.5, 2, and 2.5 inch strips and make four patch units out of the smaller pieces as I get the pieces ironed and organized.

Can't wait to see what you've done with the 1 1/2" strips! You're amazing Joan.
